How can technology improve the quality of online learning?

In recent years, students have gained the ability to acquire a high-quality education from the comfort of their own homes. From a high school diploma to a four-year college degree, students can attend class, take tests, and complete projects without leaving their room. It’s a great option for those who live far from school or learn better in the comfort of their own space.

Remembering that the Elderly Have So Much to Give

One of the more interesting activities in which I participate, is the virtual senior center at Self Help in New York City. This organization, founded as a support for aging Holocaust survivors, and now reaches across all communities in the metropolitan area, realized that one of the issues that effects the elderly the most is loneliness.

Healthy Housing: An Evaluation of Selfhelp Active Services for Aging Model (SHASAM)

Presents the results of an independent evaluation of three years of Medicaid and Medicare claims data for residents of Selfhelp housing, compared to the general population of older adults in the same zip codes. The study found that Selfhelp residents were less likely to need the hospital or emergency room, and that their hospital stays were shorter and less expensive.
