Alongside his executive work at Selfhelp, Stuart holds a deep commitment to the community through participation in many service organizations and has played a prominent role in shaping aging and housing policy at both the state and national levels. He served on the New York State Master Plan on Aging Stakeholder Advisory Committee and the Center for Aging Services Technology (CAST) at LeadingAge in Washington, D.C. He previously served as President of the statewide Housing Cabinet on the Board of Directors of LeadingAge New York, past Treasurer of the Global Ageing Network and chaired UJA-Federation of New York’s Agency Executive Network where he continues to contribute to various programs and committees.

Prior to joining Selfhelp, Stuart was Executive Vice President at St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children, serving children with special health care needs and terminal illnesses. A frequent writer and speaker, Stuart has authored and co-authored research, white papers, and articles on nonprofit ethics, Holocaust survivors in New York, senior housing with services, integrating formerly unhoused older adults into permanent housing, gerontechnology, and palliative and subacute care. His new book, Your Aging Advantage: The 7 New Stages of Aging, introduces a new way to understand the stages of life—including the powerful Flicker Stage, where a person’s “feels-like” age can shift forward or backward.

Stuart holds an MBA from Bernard M. Baruch College and previously served as President of the Baruch/Mount Sinai Health Care Administration Alumni Association. He lives in New York City with his wife and family.
