*We are honored to dedicate Selfhelp’s 90th Anniversary International Conference to the memory of Anita K. Hersh, and her beloved parents, Stephie and Jack Hersh.

Anita’s commitment to aging Holocaust survivors was based on her experiences caring for her own parents, Stephie and Jack Hersh, both of whom were survivors themselves. For Anita, true support meant more than just providing money—it meant offering her time and essential resources.

Anita was particularly concerned about the welfare of survivors and other older adults in financial need, and throughout her lifetime, she gave generously to support vulnerable elders. She also cared deeply about sharing the lessons of the Holocaust with younger generations.

Selfhelp is indeed grateful for the generous support awarded to us by The Anita K. Hersh Philanthropic Fund, administered by Anita’s dear friends Jeanne-Marie Champagne and Irene Kohn.  These funds are providing much needed Emergency Financial Assistance and Caregiving Assistance to Holocaust survivors in need – honoring both Anita’s commitment and Selfhelp’s mission to serve as the “last surviving relative” for every survivor in need.
