Think Big, Care Deeply

A Year of Compassion in Action

Our story began in 1936 with a promise to help Holocaust survivors find dignity and hope. Today, that same spirit fuels every action we take. We believe everyone deserves to be seen, respected, and supported.

We invite you to see the full impact of your partnership. Explore our 2025 report to discover more stories of resilience and learn how, together, we are building a stronger, more caring New York for all.

At Selfhelp, we believe that individuals deserve compassionate, trusted, and innovative care that respects their life experiences.

Our unique approach is rooted in our longstanding work with Holocaust survivors, giving us the experience and understanding to meet every challenge.

Because every person deserves to age with dignity and independence.

We are compassionate

For as long as one Holocaust survivor needs us, Selfhelp will be there.

Together, we help Holocaust survivors age with comfort and dignity – wrapped in the compassionate care they have always deserved.

We are trusted

Our story began in 1936, when Holocaust survivors placed their trust in us to help rebuild their lives with dignity and compassion.

This trust now forms the foundation of how we care for all older adults.

We are innovative

At Selfhelp Realty Group / The Melamid Institute for Affordable Housing, we’re tackling the city’s housing crisis with bold solutions.

Our vision is clear: create communities rooted in care, affordability, and sustainability.

Selfhelp Kissena House proudly earned a $1 million Buildings of Excellence award from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority for its groundbreaking carbon-neutral design.

This achievement not only transforms senior housing but also inspires the entire industry toward a greener future while improving quality of life for residents.
